The Dog House Tavern, in Langley Washington has faithfully served as a community hub for 102 years. A team of locals who care about “The Dog” and want to keep it in the island family have launched an official effort to buy the old dear. Here’s a message from the group to other island history buffs, or former denizens of The Dog, who might want to be part of the purchase.
“We have had conversations with many folks on the South End who want to see The Dog re-opened and who have expressed an interest in participating in it in some way/shape/form. As two people who have been in the middle of those conversations, we thought it was time to organize a community meeting to talk about how to acquire and revamp the building, and what ideas folks might have for making it a positive space for the community.
Please join us on Thursday, January 21st at 3pm at the Langley City Hall Council Chambers to kick off this conversation. If you can’t make it but are interested or know of folks who might be interested, let one or both of us know. We can fill you in on what we know about the building and the auction, etc. Please pass this along to others as appropriate.”
