Short Story Smash Contest
Sunday afternoon, April 10, at WICA
A Whidbey Island Center for the Arts sponsored event:
Part of the Fast and Furious, Down and Dirty Series.
If it weren’t for the fact that my writer buddy and contest organizer, Chris Spencer decided to decorate his announcement with an image of Moses parting the Red Sea I wouldn’t have a good excuse for posting about this literary event.
But he did. And of course I can make almost anything connect to the water in some way. It’s amazing really, this knack I’ve developed.
Participate in the contest by submitting a story, and or coming to listen to the stories read out loud at WICA on April 10th and vote for the winner. Let me tell you, Chris can deliver a story. And though he doesn’t specify who will be reading, I know he rolls with a posse of other characters who will make this a great afternoon’s entertainment.
Strict Rules for Submissions:
1) All short stories must be 100 words exactly; not 99 or less or 101 plus. Violators will be publicly humiliated.
2) Submissions must be sent ASAP and no later than April 7th tol cspencer at whidbey.com so they can be printed and rehearsed prior to public reading.
3) Short stories will be presented by readers with English language skills, sublime elocution and no deep-rooted fear of public speaking.
4) After all the readings are completed, the audience will vote. Prizes will be awarded for 1st-2nd-3rd places. Honors, accolades and glory will follow and maybe refreshments.
