Spent the weekend at Hood Canal, hotbed of low oxygen controversy. Some landowners there think all this is just hype by crazy lefties who want to meddle in property rights.
I don’t know what a scientist would gain by such meddling. Unless it be the career building opportunity to publish a paper. But I do think property owners actually stand to benefit if someone cares enough about conditions in the Sound to try to stop, or even lessen pollution.
Ask anyone who lived near Seattle’s Lake Union in the 60’s whether the Clean Water Act ending sewage dumping in the lake had any benefits.
