After watching my niece take pictures of herself and friends at a birthday party … the texti generation has an amazing ability to arrange their faces photogenically … I realized that, as photos of everything at every moment are now the norm, I need to practice this skill of being photogenic myself rather than just let the camera capture whatever goofy expression happens to cross my countenance as the shutter clicks.
I forgot about that great idea until, with rain threatening we decided to paddle north in the kayaks and let the wind and waves push us back south again. The camera being my constant companion and having nothing else to use it on since the birds and marine mammals were hiding from the impending rain, I started taking shots of various kinds of gray. Gray is quite beautiful.
Waves, clouds, distant islands, main sails. Oops, hair. That’s beautiful too right?
What better place to make silly faces while holding a camera above my head than the middle of Puget Sound during a storm?
And there’s still no “the” in Puget Sound.
